The Rooster Fish or Nematistius Pectoralis is a world famous, exotic, big game fish found in the Eastern Pacific from Panama through the midsection of Baja California Sur Mexico. The worlds record for largest rooster fish every caught weighed 114 lbs! Their distinctive velvety “rooster comb” dorsal fin of seven long dark spines and strikingingly bold body stripes make the Roosterfish stand out among the many species in the diverse Sea of Cortez, once refered to by Jacques Cousteau as "the aquarium of the world". They are a pelagic species that move inshore following a chain that begins with sardinas following the plankton and tiny marine life up welling from the deepest parts of the Sea of Cortez through the canyons leading to the feeding shores of the East Cape.
